The Wildcat Creek Beds

In 2018, I got a permit to begin collecting fossil specimens from the Wildcat Creek Beds outside of Rimrock Lake, in Washington. This Oligocene site is equivalent to the John Day formation, but with far fewer fossils collected and published from the area (approximately 30 known specimens). A short 2018 field season nearly doubled the number of known specimens and found three more species than had been previously recorded.

We are currently working on cleaning and describing specimens, and a redescription of the sedimentology of the related Milk Creek Tuff.
